Monday, Tuesday, Thursday- 7AM -4 pm; Wednesday, Friday- 10AM -7pm (Applicants with flexible schedules preferred).

JOB SUMMARY The Custodian/Maintenance/Delivery staff person keeps assigned sites clean, organized, and well maintained.
This staff person is responsible for completing work orders in a timely manner and working closely with the Facilities Specialist to coordinate and fulfill the safety, maintenance, and equipment needs of the Agency.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED (required); and one year of experience in maintenance and/or custodial work, preferably in childcare setting (preferred).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATIONS Maintains Level II Background Clearance and Adult and Pediatric CPR-First Aid Certification Maintains Valid Driver's License and regular access to reliable transportation; Maintenance of required motor vehicle insurance with the minimum coverages set by the State.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Custodial Duties:
Scrub assigned floors and clean windows regularly.
Sweep in-between washings.
Wax floors when needed and give proper warnings when cleaning floors.
Keep bathrooms clean; regularly scrubbing, mopping and disinfecting all areas.
Keep bathroom paper and soaps replenished; change light bulbs, as needed.
Remove garbage daily and keep area-surrounding dumpster clean.
Inspect play areas and remove all debris; watch closely for hazards such as glass, sharp objects or other hazardous materials.
Inspect and clean play equipment, as needed.
Keep a written inventory of supplies and submit requests to supervisor when supplies are low or depleted.
Set or re-set rooms, as directed, in preparation for meetings or special events.
Secure building daily; report any suspicious activity or strangers immediately.
Reset alarm system when needed.
Inspect to ensure that it remains operational.
Maintenance Duties:
Regularly inspect & clean yard, play area, and parking lot.
Keep grass and shrubs cut, rake up grass and leaves and remove paper or debris.
Change air conditioning filters monthly.
Inspect equipment regularly and make minor repairs when needed.
If equipment requires professional attention report to immediate supervisor.
Make necessary repairs on windows and doors and check for security capability.
Report all repair problems.
Keep an updated record of existing inventory to forecast future need and control waste.
Delivery Duties:
Pick-up and/or deliver food, supplies, or other items as needed.
Maintain and upkeep company vehicles (including oil & fluids, brake inspection, refueling, etc).
Pick up assigned donation(s) from families and deliver to assigned location.
Must exhibit courtesy and care when moving furniture and donated items from clients home.
Other Duties:
Provide active supervision both inside and outsides the classroom and ensure all health and safety practices are being implemented to keep children safe at all times.
Report actual or suspected child abuse in accordance with DCF's mandated reporter reporting requirements.
Assist in other departments, including bus monitoring or meal service, as needed; relieves other staff for break periods, as required.
Assist in training new hires, as needed Perform related duties, as assigned.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must work cooperatively and effectively with staff.
Availability to travel to and work at any site served by the Agency; willingness to relocate to different work sites, based on Agency needs.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a several variables.
Technology Proficiency:
Must be able to use email system to receive and respond to company issued emails.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position requires a mixture of standing or sitting for extended periods, using ladders, working outdoors and in non-air-conditioned conditions; exposure to sanitizing and cleaning chemicals and electrical equipment.
Extensive traveling to and from different worksites.
Tasks may involve kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and extending.
Additionally, certain tasks involve possible exposure to blood, bodily fluid or tissue, and communicable disease (generally when working in classrooms).
Tasks may involve lifting objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds, using ladders, handling tools or utensils, using shared restrooms, offices, office equipment, and telephones.
Risk involved with travel of streets and highways during business travel, including evening meetings.
This job requires possible exposure to inclement weather, including rain, flooding, lightening, hail, wind, and sun exposure.
