Senior Accountant

Our client, located in Vero Beach, Florida, has an immediate need to fill the position of Senior Accountant.

Job Description
The Senior Accountant position will be responsible for all day to day accounting operations, developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Sr. Accountant supervises four accounting staff and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, controls and process efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities
o Manage assigned accounting functions including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Accountants.
o Oversee cash flow and the management of the Accounts Receivable client's customer service.
o Manage process and controls compliances for accounting functions assigned.
o Monitor and review month-end closing.
o Coordinate staff to ensure timely closings.
o Prepare and coordinate month-end schedules, management reports, account reconciliations as assigned.
o Assist in internal processes, policies, procedures and systems to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
o Document various internal control structures to ensure compliance.
o Review and approve monthly journal entries.
o Review and approve monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
o Review reports and records for accuracy and proper placement in accounts.
o Monitor trends and make recommendations for accruals and reserves, make adjustments as required and prepare detail for financial statements.
o Assist with operating expense review and variance analysis as necessary.
o Review accuracy and GAAP reporting of accruals and reserves such as legal and professional fees.
o Ensure accurate recording of costs by case matter.
o Manage day to day operations questions and approvals as required.
o Function as the liaison between the Company and its auditors.
o Manage activities of accounting staff in the execution of accounting functions.
o Interview, select, hire, train and assign staff. o Provide direction and mentoring, develop and communicate performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of staff as a department and as individuals.
o Evaluate performance and provide counseling and coaching to employees.
o Manage personnel including performance, development, training and cross training, goals and objectives. Report progress and plan development with Controller.

Additional Duties
o Perform or assist with any departmental operations, as required or directed to maintain work flow and meet production schedules and requirements.
o Maintain safe work areas and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules.
o Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, increase efficiency and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements and policies.
o Recommend revisions to control documentation such as check lists, operating procedures and policy manuals. Make and distribute authorized modifications as required.
o Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.
o Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
o Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Degree or equivalent required. Master's of Business Administration or CPA preferred.

years supervisory/management experience leading diverse teams (hourly and professional staff).
o Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
o Experience in delivering client-focused solutions based on customer needs.
o Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail.
o Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills.
o Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
o Experience in a customer service environment strongly preferred.
o Ability to work in dynamic, fast paced, high-growth environment.
o Ability to work extra hours during critical times.

To be considered for this position, the candidate must possess these
Qualifications:
o Bachelor's Degree. Master's of Business Administration or CPA preferred.
o 5
years of accounting supervisory experience leading diverse teams (hourly and professional staff).
o Local or close enough for a short easy move.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
