Vehicle Description In 1950, Volkswagen released a forward control light commercial vehicle known as the Type 2.
One of the original cargo vans, it spawned the advent of the van revolution.
Built strictly for utility, the Type 2, which ultimately was offered in several body types, was notorious for low horsepower but trustworthy performance.
As the Type 2 vans began arriving in the United States, they were met with wide acclaim for both their utility and appeal as multi-purpose vehicles.
Cargo, passenger and camping variants of the Type 2 could be found, with varying numbers of windows, throughout the US.
This 1970 Volkswagen Deluxe 15-Window Microbus camper recreation is the result of a nut and bolt restoration that was completed in 2022.
Powered by a rebuilt stock 1500cc fat-4 air cooled engine tied to a 4-speed manual transmission, it fires right up and is an absolute joy to drive.
During the restoration, the van's 12-volt electrical system was redone and it its brakes and suspension components were replaced and restored.
On the exterior, the bus's unique two-tone blue and white exterior makes it pop against other vans.
The blue and white color scheme is carried forward to the interior with a blue cloth and sand interior.
With Safari pop-out side windows, dual front and rear roof racks and side ladder, this camper bus is ready to take to the road.
In the rear passenger compartment, the camper interior features dual benches that face each other with a fixed center table, a sink with USB powered rechargeable water spout, mini-fridge, several built in storage compartments, window curtains and folding rear bench seat that converts into a bed.
This VW represents the ultimate in classic camping comfort.
Unless stated otherwise, mileage shown on odometer is exempt and unknown if original.
